Our team's task was to develop the brand and fully responsive marketing site of Butter, an upcoming recommendation platform that provides a highly-curated experience of discovering new spots around town.
I worked with Scout Studio as the project lead of our team of five students - two developers and two designers. Working closely with our client, I oversaw my team through branding exercises, naming explorations, website UI and UX, and the full development of the functional marketing site. Additionally, I empowered my team to take ownership of their work and step out of their comfort zones. Throughout the whole process, our team utilized an agile workflow.
One challenge our team faced was pivoting our design with a product name change. Working closely with our client, we explored names for the company and product. Initially running with the name Mend, we decided to continue the branding and product work with the name Butter.
I learned how to lead a design and development team. This included handling any internal issues, mentoring younger designers with design concepts and tools, piecing together the design to development handoff, and acting as a strong liaison between our team and our client.
